Lets some balance game =)
PPC must take 5-6 slots
To prevent multiPPC configs
2 PPCs max in torso or 1 PPC max in hand

I was saying this in another post. I think Heat should stack exponentially. Running 1 or 2 PPCs is manageable, but anything more then that and the heat gets too much to vent before shutdown. It keeps the more regular builds (like the 2 PPC Cat K2) viable, but the 5 or 6 PPC builds unmanageable if alpha'd. It is a MUCH better idea that this harpoint chassis limitation crap that some people want.

Agreed
Overheat must be more dangerous for internals - must be chance to blow ammo or damage weapons
And mech owerheated more than 80% must going slower ( speed penalty )

PGI will not change any of the following weapon statistics:
Weight
Crit slots

To do so would mess with stock builds.

Your fear of the 6 PPC stalker is irrationnal. It has 2 giant weaknesses (XL engine and shutdowns) and can easily be countered simply by closing in with your arms used to protect your center torso.

Of course, if you play the way the stalker pilot want you to (hiding behind cover out of fear and giving him time to cool down, then peeking out of cover to offer him a shot), you only have yourself to blame.

True. Doesn´t mean I want more TT like heat effects, but those don´t realy affect somone who is either cool or already shutting down like a 6ppc stalker anyway.
Close in and stuff some SRMs into their back.

Not fear - 6xPPC also 6x6SRM etc NO canon
By canon rules 6xPPC on spheroid mech = blow engine

PS so devs and canon have almost no anything the general

The PROBLEM is not PPC
Problem is possibility 6xPPC and no correct overheating model
But devs prepare to nerf PPC heat =(((((((

I rarely see 6 PPC stalkers in PUG land. The PPC mechs I do see are Atlases, Highlanders, Cataphracts, and Awesomes. And they all seem to shutdown at the worst possible times. LOL!

Now PPC in MWO like miniPPC of MekTek
3sek cool down and 10 damage =)
If devs observe canon - must make correct overheat model
If just do same sims like MW4 - need increase amount of damage\heat\cool down
So that we have now is not PPC

I've started noticing extreme PPC builds are becoming less effective. The current meta encourages a lot of sniping at the start of matches, so the distances between normal engagements has increased, even on tighter maps.

I believe hexa stalkers were most deadly when battle lines met at around the medium range mark (300 - 400m). Unless Mr hexa gets off full hits, it doesn't have the DPS to remain effective in a protracted slugging match. They also suck at brawling.

3 or 4 PPC machines rule the roost at the moment IMHO. I used to run a hexa stalker. Now I find i'm far more effective in my 3PPC Awesome 9m.

I'm not saying PPCs don't need to be looked at, I'm saying that I believe mega PPC boats are less effective.

Haha. I've been avoiding the game for a few weeks now. So I guess 6-ppc-stalkers and poptards are still there? And still "working as intended" by PGI? It will balance itself out, yes? LOL. Guess I'll pause a bit longer then...

Quote me that rule please?

TT Rule is over 30 heat you shut down till you cool off. Or a chance to cook of ammo(as you climb he scale). No Ammo, no explosion.

The best solution to help curb PPC boating is simply allow large alpha strikes to accumulate more heat when fired at once.

Also, on top of that, allow things like heat penalties (For God's sake, even MW4 had this...) where if you came close to overheating, you would move slower (90% heat cap?) and if you overheated past 100%, you would near guarantee take some heat damage to your mech.

Problem solved. But no, that solution makes FAR too much sense and has been done already in past mechwarrior games for PGI to even consider it. Apparently, the heat system is absolutely perfect and is not flawed in any way whatsoever.

Stalker is not the only mech which can carry 6 ppcs

I'll say this right now:

Any changes to the PPC better not have any negative impact on the Awesome 8Q wwwwwwhatsoever.

I was one of the three people on this server who played the Awesome 8Q with PPCs instead of lasers before PGI reduced heat. I still sometimes lay awake at night, thinking about it. Those were hard times. If you're going to give the PPC a 5 second cooldown or return the heat levels to what they were before, you might as well strip your Awesome 8Q of all rear armour and bend it over.

Weight I'd agree with fully. That'd toss the whole game aside to do that. Crit slots - I'm not sold on. I don't think there are ANY mechs out there in stock configurations that are running against crit slot limitations at the moment. Pushing the PPC up to 5 critical slots wouldn't "ruin" them or make any of those unviable. Granted, I haven't stopped to look and confirm this, but with single heat sinks and the like being the standard, I'd think there's plenty of room to re-balance the stock loadouts to support changes in crit space requirements on the PPC. It wouldn't take any of us with smurfy's more than an hour or two to work that out...

So you are saying building a Good Awesome with PPCs is not like those 6PPC Builds meant to exploit a games Mechanics. It has its issues but is a viable weapon platform in the game. Interesting.

Actually, I've stripped my Awesome 8Q of it's 3 ER PPCs and replaced them with 4 ER Lasers (sometimes 6 regular large lasers) right now. An Awesome with 3 PPCs isn't really a problem at the moment, I just don't want to be a part of the PPC crowd, because I like to see some variety. (Granted, a lot of people use ER Lasers, but they're far outnumbered by PPC users, as far as I can tell)

But yes. People keep talking about how the PPC-problem will be solved by its own volition, as the meta-game continues to change organically and people find new ways to deal with old problems. My only concern is that 1) Major changes tend to come from patches, not independently of patches, and 2) So far, all the different super-effective boats are replaced by other super-effective boats. The SRM cat was replaced by the AC20 Jager, the LRM Stalker was replaced by the PPC Stalker. It's not getting better, it's just changing superficially.
